17. I watched you
as if you came out of the dawn,
the sun on your back,
the stars in your hand.
Your soft whisper woke me,
your smile lit the sun -
the morn so glowing,
caressed us.
Time stands suspended,
each minute an hour,
each hour a lifetime -
We laugh,
and dance,
and love lifetimes away.
You bring me the suns warm flame,
the winds soft touch.

The nights darkness
always threatening
to blow out that flame,
and the still wind.
You kiss me
and the darkness lifts -
morning is still here.
May it always last
and the night
never come again.

18. CLOWN
I'm a clown
just playing my role -
letting others see me
a face without a soul.

But underneath that mask
the makeup and the smile -
I have no laugh
no wit - no style.

I'm trying to play the game
the rules I don't even know -
trying to keep from losing
trying not to let the hurt show.

For, you see,
my heart has been broken
my dreams have gone dry -
it's the aching, hurting and crying
I hide.

The clown only wanted
a real smile to replace
the fake one
he'd painted on his face.
But, he'll keep on playing
cause theres only one game to play -
and hopes to find his dreams
and someone to take the hurt away.

19. LONGINGS
Longing thoughts
longing feelings.
The emptiness -
chilling my heart -
like icy hands
in the dark -
following me
like a shadow -
beside me
wherever I go.

Longing thoughts,
longing feelings.
Wishing for days like these
when for a moment you make
the emptiness cease.
Your easy gentleness I feel
when you're not here.
Its warmth
brings you
ever so near.

20. If you,
in the midst of
your hustle,
or,
in the moments of free floating,
in all the noise,
or,
in the quiet darkness of your mind,
or,
in times of trepid reality,
hear,
a soft scratching,
a gentle probing
at your heart,
vibrating deep into your soul -
don't let it bother you -
don't hold it against me
too much...
it's just me -
looking inside everyman
trying to find
love.

21. MY SONG
The child grew up then
free from every care
but when she went
and looked for love
it wasn't even there.

She couldn't understand the pain
that grew inside her there
and every time she looked around
she found that no one really cared.

And so she searched
for so she thought
that time was on her side
and when it was all over
she found that even time had lied.

And when she tried to say
what in her heart she felt
the eyes were closed
the ears did not hear
and under lifes cold hands she knelt.

She couldn't believe the love
that filled her deep inside
burning hot and yet so tender
she now would have to hide.
Too many times she given all
too many times she'd tried
to find the one who'd return the love
and so she hid and cried.

It seems as no one had the time
no one tried to understand her pain
she has nothing but the memories now
of the life she'd lived in vain.

She sits at home alone now
in a chair against the wall
blending with the shadows
looking so frail and so small.

And the look that's left within her eyes
you wouldn't want to see
that cold, empty, unseeing stare
that was caused by you
and me.

22. FRIENDS
Your friendship means more to me
than I'll ever show,
and I just wanted to tell you,
I just wanted you to know,
that your dear to me,
near to me,
pleasing me so;
showing me,
knowing me,
helping me grow.
And if there's ever a moment that you need me
I'll do what I can,
to help you,
or hold you,
or lend you my hand;
for there's no payment enough
to give to one
who's given time so precious,
who's given his love.

23. DAYDREAM
Here in my dream
life is a slow stream,
quietly passing,
going nowhere;

reflecting the nights moon,
playing a soft tune,
easing down,
soothing my cares.

And your memory
is like that stream to me;
it weaves slowly
through my mind.

And your voice it
was like soft music
on my ears
and i find,

I'm wishing to awaken,
and find I'm mistaken,
that my dream
really has come true;
that it's not the stream i hear,
but that you're standing near,
and the music, sweet music is you.

24. I think you're sweet,
I think you're neat;
I like you from
you head to your feet.

I like your eyes,
I like your nose
I like your tiny
little toes.

I like your hands,
I like your arms,
I especially like
your sweet sweet charms.

I like your wit,
I like your style,
I like you whether,
you frown or smile.

But most of all,
from North to South
or east to West
what I like best

Is not how you look
or how you're smart
but what's inside
what's in your heart.

25. The ache in my soul
sometimes beyond my control

The emptiness inside
I can no longer hide.

Oh to find someone to give me
that peace I need.

To feel deep inside me
love again, I plead.

Oh God - can I take it
another hour, another minute.

Oh to find a passing dream
with you in it.
