Bob picks a boat!

Hi Everyone!

Well after several hours of going over various designs, Bob has finally picked a boat. We tried to choose something different from mine that would allow even more versatility. He decided that the sliding seat was just a little to far out there for him, so we chose a standard seat boat, somewhat shorter and wider than mine that will carry three people up to 450 pounds and can even be rigged with a sail if he so chooses. It's a beautiful design and even though it is offered up as a kit with new fangled plastic injected ceramic parts, he chose to do it the old fashioned way out of wood. Here is a photo of what it should look like when we get finished with it!

She is to be 15 feet long and just under 100 pounds so it will be easy for him to roll it down to the water. I will get on the cosmonet this afternoon and order the plans and parts for him.

There is something joyful about an older person becoming excited about something like a teenager again. I could swear that as Bob left, he walked a little lighter, and looked a little taller than when he came in. Even Molly noticed it. She poked at me a little, "Be careful you don't create a monster" she said. "If he starts building aeroplanes this winter Carol will have your head."  This coming from a woman who built her own wind powered generator at 60. I'm just glad she never wanted to build wood boats. It would be embarrasing to say to people, "yes, the pretty one is the one Molly built...and yes, it's faster than mine as well" LOL.

Speaking of building things, she is out in the yard right now putting up a fence next to her vegetable garden. Maybe she is going to surprise me with that puppy we were talking about!

Thats all for now.

Sam.
